What's included

Everything on this page is included in the price

There are no tiers, no add-ons and no upsells. Medication doesn't cost extra. Neither does putting your bins out. One price, the whole job.

For your cat

The half hour we spend with her

A visit takes around thirty minutes. Here's where it goes.

  • Food and fresh water

Fed exactly the way you feed her, at roughly the times she expects it.

Wet, dry, raw, prescription, three different bowls in three different rooms because that's what works. We'll do it your way. Water gets changed every visit, not topped up, and we'll rinse the bowls properly. If she's on a fussy streak we'll tell you rather than quietly swapping her food.

  • Litter trays

Scooped every visit, changed properly, and left where they were.

Trays are cleaned at every single visit, and fully changed as often as your cat needs. We'll take the waste out with us rather than leaving a bag in your bin for a fortnight, which is the sort of thing you only notice when someone doesn't do it.

  • Medication

Tablets, liquids, ear drops, insulin, at no extra charge.

We're comfortable with routine medication and we don't charge more for it, because a cat that needs a tablet twice a day is exactly the cat that shouldn't be uprooted. Show us how you do it when we collect the keys. If your cat is diabetic or on something time-critical, tell us early so we can build the round around it.

  • Company, on her terms

We stay a while. Brushing, playing, or just sitting quietly nearby.

This is the part an automatic feeder can't do. Some cats want twenty minutes of string. Some want to be brushed. Some want you to sit down, be quiet, and stop looking at them. We follow their lead, and we're never in and out in ninety seconds.

  • The Visit Note

A photo and a few lines after every visit, sent the same day.

Ate everything, or didn't. Slept on the good chair. Came downstairs to say hello for the first time all week. You get a photo and a sentence or two by text or WhatsApp, whichever you prefer, and if you'd like it sent to a second person as well, that's no trouble.

  • A proper look at her

Someone who knows cats, checking on yours twice a day.

Eating, drinking, using the tray, moving normally, no limping, no hiding that isn't her usual hiding. It's the reason a real visit beats a neighbour popping a bowl down. If something looks wrong we ring you straight away, and if we can't reach you we ring your vet.

For your house

While we're in there anyway

An empty house is an obvious house. Since we're coming in once or twice a day regardless, we may as well make it look like somebody's home.

  • Curtains and lights

Opened and closed at sensible hours, and not the same hour twice.

A house where the curtains move is a house somebody lives in. A house where they move at 7.42 every evening is a house with a timer switch, so we vary it. Lights go on in the room we're actually standing in, and off again when we leave.

  • Post off the mat

Gathered up every visit and stacked somewhere sensible.

Post fanned out across the hall is the one thing visible through a front door, and it tells anyone looking exactly how long you've been gone. We pick it up and leave it tidy on the side. If something turns up that looks like it matters, a courier card or a letter from the vet, we'll mention it in the Visit Note rather than let it sit until you land.

  • Bins, on the right week

Out the night before, back in the following morning.

West Oxfordshire alternates its collections, which defeats plenty of people who live here all year round, so tell us your week and we'll put it in the diary. A bin that never moves is as loud a signal as one left on the pavement for a fortnight.

  • Plants kept going

House plants all year, and the pots outside through the summer.

Point us at them when we collect the keys and say which one is temperamental. We'd rather be told than guess, and if anything looks worse than it did when you left, you'll have heard it from us before you walk in.

  • A look round while we're there

Heating, taps, windows, anything that has started making a noise.

We're in the house once or twice a day with our eyes open. It costs us nothing to spot a boiler flashing a fault code, a window left open in the rain or a freezer door that hasn't quite shut, and any one of those is worth more to you than the visit. If we find something, you hear about it the same day.

  • The odd small favour

Within reason, and within the law of common sense.

Heating switched on the day you land so you're not walking into a cold house. A parcel moved out of the porch. The recycling box taken round the back. Ask when we collect the keys. If it's small and it's sensible, the answer is nearly always yes.

None of this is an optional extra and none of it is charged separately. It's £16 a day for one visit, £30 for two, VAT included, and that's the whole bill.

Our one rule

Why we only do cats

Cats are the species that suffers most from being moved, and the species whose distress is hardest to spot. A cat that's off her food, drinking more than usual, or sitting in a slightly odd way is telling you something, and you only notice it if that's the thing you look at every day.

So we don't split our attention. No dog walks squeezed either side of your visit, no rabbit hutch on the other side of town. Just cats, in their own homes, across Witney and West Oxfordshire.

It also means the person coming into your house has spent the whole week with cats, and will read yours properly rather than treating her as one more animal on a list.

Where the line is

What we don't do

We're not there overnight. One or two visits a day is one or two visits a day. If your cat cannot be left, a live-in sitter is a better fit and we'll say so.

We don't do dogs, rabbits or anything else. Not even for a friend of a friend. Cats only, and it stays that way.

We're not vets. We give medication you already have and we recognise when something looks wrong. We don't diagnose, and we'll ring you or your vet rather than guess.

We won't force a frightened cat out of hiding. We'll check she's eaten and drunk, leave her in peace, and tell you what we saw.
